About Phoenix Rising Acupuncture The legend of the phoenix most probably originated in Egypt, where it is known as "benu". Legend states that every five hundred years or so, the phoenix bursts into flame and is reduced to ashes, and rises from those ashes newborn. The phoenix, and its hieroglyphics, represents the passage of time and the cycle of death and rebirth. During the Middle Ages, the phoenix became part of Christian mythology representing death, resurrection and eternal life. For many centuries in Chinese mythology, the phoenix has been a symbol of power, integrity, loyalty, honesty and justice. It represents the union of yin and yang. Phoenix Rising Acupuncture is named after the legendary phoenix and is dedicated to the belief that life is eternal, that the power of the human spirit is limitless and that healing is in the hands of each individual.
